Home School Hub is our virtual classroom, aimed at children from 1st to 6th class. Created in response nationwide school closures due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Home School Hub provides engaging, educational content for primary school children all across Ireland. The programme is presented by three primary school teachers, who cover a wide range of subjects across the primary school curriculum. We supply the questions and answers, so you don’t have to!
Home School Hub runs Monday to Friday from 11am on RTÉ2, with supporting worksheets and extra materials freely available on rte.ie/learn.
Home School Extra follows the main programme at 12pm, and is curated entirely by kids all across Ireland! Children are encouraged to submit their own videos and pictures to rte.ie/learn (or firstname.lastname@example.org) for the show, giving viewers a glimpse into their lives under this extraordinary ‘new normal’.
Both programmes are available to stream daily on the RTÉ Player, and on YouTube.
RTÉ Home School Hub is supported by the Mary Immaculate College.
Meet Our Múinteoirí
Home School Hub is presented by three primary school teachers: Múinteoir Ray (Ray Cuddihy, RTÉjr’s Tír na nÓg and RTÉjr Radio); Múinteoir John (John Sharpson, RTÉjr’s Bright Sparks) and Múinteoir Clíona (Clíona Ní Chiosáin, RTÉjr’s How To Do Everything, Tír na nÓg and TG4’s Aifric).
The programme also features scientist Phil, teaching children how to do all kinds of exciting and wacky experiments at home; and illustrator Will Sliney, who works with Marvel on series such as Star Wars and Spiderman. Will presents the series #wewilldraw, showing kids how to draw different characters, animals and encouraging them to share their art with viewers.
